“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”

I Can’t Decide Whose Acceptance Speech Was Better: Stan Lee’s or Neil Gaiman’s.
Stan Lee won biggest disappointment for not making a cameo in X-Men: First Class, and Neil Gaiman won the screenwriting excellence award for the Doctor’s wife. I think they both deserved it. Watching Neil run around in a field was pretty great, but so was the effulgence of my lord and master Mr. Lee. Thoughts?

Ah, she’s so awesome. If I could be one thing, it wold be as free a bitch as Amanda Palmer. Or her girlfriend. God, that would never happen. Plus she’s married to a guy I also wouldn’t mind dating. Ummm… hey, Neil and Amanda? I have a cool idea?

“
How do you do it? You do it. You write. You finish what you write. You look for publishers who publish “that kind of thing”, whatever it is. You send them what you’ve done (a letter asking if they’d like to see a whole manuscript or a few chapters and an outline will always be welcome. And stamped self-addressed envelopes help keep the wheels turning.) Sooner or later, if you don’t give up and you have some measurable amount of ability or talent or luck, you get published. But for people who don’t know where to begin, let me offer a few suggestions: ”- http://www.neilgaiman.com/p/FAQs/Advice_to_Authors (via neil-gaiman) Thanks for the reminder, Neil! The most important and easiest to forget tip for “how to be a writer” is “to write.”

“Neil and I are constantly trying to figure out what our marriage is. All we’ve figured out so far is that it is 100%, definitely, absoutely not fucking normal. That’s a nice start.”
